The only photo I have of my drive back from North Carolina to Vegas is this one taken in Prewitt, New Mexico at Bluewater Lake State Park. The tent site was high on a hill overlooking the eponymous lake.

The first two nights, in Natchez Trace State Park, Tennesee and Red Rock Canyon State Park, Oklahoma, passed without rain and I slept without the rainfly on. In New Mexico, however, it had been drizzling earlier in the day, so I covered up so I wouldn't be awakened in the middle of night to find my sleeping back wet and cold. It proved a good idea, since it did start raining around 2am.
