A New Camera

This weekend I ordered a new dSLR, the Pentax K100D, to replace my Nikon 5700. I hate waiting for shipping time, but the savings from the online deal make it worth it. One of the most fantastic things about this camera is that I can use my Pentax lenses that I use on my 35mm Pentax ME-Super. Whoo Hoo! I'm very excited!
I used to be a bit biased against digital cameras. My ME-Super and Mamiya 645 seemed so superior. Even when I purchased the Nikon, I still felt that I only used it so much because of convenience, and the quality of the images was still inferior. Now, however, I think cameras like the K100D have changed my mind. Like other dSLRs, it offers all of the same functions as it's mechanical cousins, and not just with the convenience of not having to develop film, but with the capability to produce excellent photos at sizes comparable to 35mm film. Even more important, editing images is made so much easier. It's a pain in the ass to scan 35mm or 120 roll film so you can Photoshop out wrinkles and skin imperfections.
Of course, I still have to contend with the fact that digital files are easy to lose..... and I've a bad habit of losing things.
So often when I buy things, I instantly think, "That was a waste. I'll never use that," but I'm super happy about this new camera. Yay!
Damn shipping time!
