New Wheels

Yesterday was a big day for car news.
The adjuster came and looked at the truck, estimating a little over $1,000 damage. Kinda sucks that my deductible is $1,000. In the mail, I recieved the affadavits to sign from my insurance company, saying my truck was really stolen and all that. They must've mailed it before they got the news that the truck was recovered, because they asked for all of the keys.
Having my vehicle stolen and vandalized left me feeling very victimized and not very much in control of my own stuff. Just seeing the truck in it's awful made me feel crappy. I wanted to get it out of my sight. So as soon as the adjuster said he was all done with it, I decided to go visit the Jeep dealer down the street. After a few hours of dealing and paperwork, I got home last night around 10pm with a brand new Wrangler.

Hot, huh?
Today I received a letter from the District Attorney telling me I might be called as a witness in the case against one Mr. Romulo V. Mendoza. I sincerely hope he's not an illegal alien, as it will totally ruin my opinion of them as hard-working people who only want to earn money for their families back home. If found guilty of stealing my truck-- he was found in it-- the court will order him to repay to me cost of repairs and damage to the vehicle. I sincerely doubt I will ever actually get the money. No, instead the public will probably have to pay for room and board for the alleged creep while he does his time in prison. Hopefully I haven't been voting for any of those stupid soft-hearted judges.

Isn't that the cutest little grill ever?

After driving a pickup truck for several years, even a small one like the Tacoma, this Wrangler feels so short. When I look in the rearview mirror, it's like the rear window is right behind my head. AND, it has six forward gears, which is different than every straight drive I've ever owned-- the VW Rabbit, VW Cabrio and Toyota Tacoma. It takes a little getting used to. AND, despite my saying forever that I wanted a hybrid, I bought a vehicle that gets 15 mpg..... but it's a Jeep!!!
