The Polls

Polling after the Democratic debate yesterday has not shown a major shift in support for any candidate. Clinton, Obama and Edwards are the top three. In some polls Obama is far and away the winner, in others Edwards edges Hillary for second behind Obama, and in others still they're all in a relative dead-heat. One of the biggest factors in the next few months, however, will not be the positive support each candidate has, but how little negative attitude exist about them. In all polls which measure this, as either negative support or Who lost the debate?, Clinton does poorly with a high level of negativity. We already knew she was polarizing, and the polls support this. She often comes off with more negative support than positive. Not good. Obama's negative numbers are much better, and Edwards are even better. In some polls, he has half the negative support of second place Obama, and in others they are dead even.
This leaves Edwards in a very good position for undecided voters, or voters who want a viable candidate without choosing the over-hyped Obama or controversial Clinton.
