Bijou

In the Janeane Garofalo movie, The Matchmaker, her character checks into a hotel and is told the only room they have available is a little bijou. When she opens up the door onto her closet-sized quarters, with surprise and disdain she exclaims, Bijou! That's the first thing I thought about when I opened up the hotel room door at The Mosser, on Fourth Street in San Francisco's shopping district. It's a trendy remodel of an neat little early 20th century hotel. Trendy but tiny. We even have a shared toilet and shower. Shared with everyone else on our floor. Bijou.

This is the entire room. Almost. The queen bed takes up most of it.

The only part of the room not visible in the previous photo. The sink. I seriously considered pissing in it so I wouldn't have to walk to the toilet down the hall.

We're on the fourth floor-- which is only one floor short of being able to see over the wall of the building next door. There's no a/c, but it's San Fran we don't need it, but keeping the window open allows the clitter-clatter of the dishwashing sounds from the neighboring restaurant.
