Finally! Dell Mini!

I got all excited this past weekend because I learned that my Dell Mini, which I ordered over a month ago, was finally on it's way. It arrived Monday. Yee ha!
I tried out Ubuntu, a Linux distro, a few weeks ago-- testing it on my laptop-- because I ordered the Mini with it. Using Linux saved $50 on the price of the Mini, and the fact that it is stable and secure make it more than worth the trouble of learning how to use it. I've been very happy with it so far.

The last two days, however, I've been trying to figure out how to use my Palm Centro as a high speed modem, tethering it to the Mini via USB. I've used a program called PDANet on my Windows laptop to do just this, while traveling. Unfortunately, PDANet doesn't work on Linux. Sad face.....
I searched and searched and searched for a way to get it to work, using a program called USB Modem-- which does work on Linux. Finally, a few minutes ago, I got it working! As a matter of fact, I'm using it right now! I'm getting download speeds of 1200kbps, which is pretty good. I can now have internet access, for free, anywhere I can use my Sprint phone. That is awesome.
Envy me!
ps If you're curious about tethering your phone to your Linux machine via USB, check out this link for instructions: Dialup Networking via Treo 700p and Ubuntu (USB connection).
