Betta splendens

I bought Reimon a 6 gallon aquarium for Christmas, which currently houses one Ryukin goldfish. It made me want one, so I bought myself a 5 gallon tank to put on my desk. I like live plants, so I've decorated it with Amazon Sword, Kyoto Grass, and Peacock Fern, along with a Japanese-inspired house-thing.
After letting the plants and water have a day to themselves, I visited the fish store again today to purchase a betta. The sign above them read, "Bettas $2.98." They should have written "or More," as only the plain bettas were $2.98. Mine was $7.98.
But he is a beauty-- a Crown Tail. Regal indigo coloring, with magenta highlights. Very pretty.
After a dinner of blood worms, he swam around to explore his new home, which is 40 times the size of the tiny plastic jar he was housed in at the pet store. Which reminds me! It is terrible that pet shops keep bettas in such poor conditions. As I was purchasing my betta and discussing the quality of the water in my tank, the sales lady said, "They're hardy. Those things live in mud puddles so you can just put them in anything." While they do live in the shallow rice paddies of SE Asian, those fields have much more than one pint of water. A plastic cup, no matter what people say, are not happy homes for a betta.
Enough of that.
What should I name him?
